The second annual "A Prairie Christmas on Stage with Jeff Gould" is coming back to Pierre Players' Grand Opera House on Monday, Dec. 5, 2022, at 7 p.m. Fun and interactive, A Prairie Christmas on Stage is a fast-paced, fun, and heartfelt sleigh ride packed with hilarious stories, poignant memories, and nostalgic moments that promise to make this the highlight of the season and a guaranteed way to get into the spirit of Christmas. A Prairie Christmas on Stage features Jeff Gould, with renowned composer Dan Mahar on guitar and vocals and Libby Gould on keyboards. Tickets are available in advance at KCCR Studio at 106 W. Learn about the state of the organization and plans for the future by attending Pierre Players Annual Membership Meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2022, 6:30 p.m. in the Encore Room (Box Office).
New Pierre Players Board of Governors members will also be voted on at the meeting, with musical review entertainment to follow in the Grand Opera House. Performers will include Ashley Boone, Jennifer Kanz, Lydia Kanz, Sarah Kanz, Kevin Kumpf, Judah McKinley, and Justin Munyer.

Pierre Players Little Players will host haunted theater tours and fall festival activities on Saturday, Oct. 29, 2022, 5-10 p.m. at the Grand Opera House.
Try not to cringe at each creak in the floor as you explore the dark depths of the Grand Opera House. Built in 1908, the theater has seen its share of sinister and spooky scenes. There will be ghosts, witches, and all sorts of haunts to make your skin crawl. The event will also include an apple bar, pumpkin painting, mask creating, and more in the Encore Room (Box Office) for those who aren't quite old enough or interested in the scary stuff.
The entrance fee is $5 per person. The event is being supported with funds from the Pierre/Fort Pierre Community Foundation Grant.

Help play a part in the arts! Pierre Players Community Theatre has two open seats on its Board of Governors. Pierre Players is looking for Board members who will be enthusiastic and active in the organization for a three-year term. Those wanting to serve do not need any theatrical experience. They must be able to help the organization fulfill its mission and vision, as well as set and achieve its growth and development goals.
The deadline to apply is Sept. 6, 2022. Email a letter of interest including a little about yourself and why you are interested in joining Pierre Players Board at info@pierreplayers.com. If you have questions, talk to a current Board member or email Pierre Players.

It is time for the interior of the Grand Opera House to get a fresh coat of paint!
Pierre Players is painting the audience area of the Grand Opera house on Saturday, Aug. 27, and Sunday, 28, 2022, starting at 9 a.m. each morning. Come either day or both days—we appreciate whatever you can fit into your schedule.
If you plan to help, please send us a quick email at info@pierreplayers.com so we have an estimate of how many volunteers to expect. Or if you find that you have some time to lend us a hand that weekend, just stop by. If we have enough help, we will make quick work of this project.

Join the cast of Pierre Players' upcoming production “Ordinary Days” on Saturday, April 9, for Saturday "Night" at the Met at Waterfront Gallery for the Arts at 207 E. Missouri Ave., Suite 1A, in Pierre.
The event will begin at 5 p.m., and the public is invited to view the gallery's artwork and enjoy a refreshment. At 5:30 p.m., “Ordinary Days” Director Lydia Kanz will speak about the upcoming production, and the cast will perform musical selections from the show.
Pierre Players representatives will also be on hand to visit about the community theater and its current season, as well as Waterfront Gallery for the Arts Owner Jennifer Kanz to visit about the new gallery.
“Saturday ‘Night’ at the Met is a great opportunity to support the talents of local artists in our community,” said Pierre Players President Alisa Bousa. “The public is invited to view artwork by local artists on display at the new Waterfront Gallery for the Arts and to hear a preview of musical numbers from Pierre Players’ next production, ‘Ordinary Days.’”
Show dates for “Ordinary Days” are April 29-30 and May 5-7 at 7:30 p.m. and a matinee on May 1 at 2 p.m. Tickets go on sale April 18. Stop by the box office at 109 S. Pierre St. or call 605.224.7826.

The Pierre Concert Series will present JAS Quintet on Tuesday, March 22, 7 p.m. at the Grand Opera House. JAS Quintet is one of South Dakota's premier jazz ensembles. Formed in 2012 and based in Sioux Falls, the five-piece instrumental group specializes in original jazz music and standards throughout the jazz age. The lineup is Jeffrey Paul on keys, Andrew Reinartz on bass, Joel Shotwell on saxophone, Daniel Heier on drums and Jim Speirs on trumpet. On Saturday, Dec. 11, Pierre Players will hold a flat building workshop at 10 a.m. CST at the Grand Opera House. The workshop will be led by Scott Hipple, who has built numerous Pierre Players’ sets. Volunteers will replace the canvas on 10-foot flats used for set construction. Volunteers are also needed to help with other maintenance at the Grand Opera House, such as organizing the paint room, re-numbering audience seats and rows, and painting the Encore Room/Box Office.
