Set Painting Workshop

Come enjoy an inside look at the art of set painting! Pierre Players will hold a set painting workshop on Saturday, March 14, 2026, 10 a.m. to noon CDT, at the Grand Opera House, 109 S. Pierre St., Pierre. Learn shading techniques, design application, texturing and more with artist Jen Kanz. This workshop is free but is limited to 10 participants. Come enjoy an inside look at the art of theatrical costuming!

Pierre Players costume designers Ashley Boone, Jan Martin and Kaitlin Lenaburg will present a special, behind‑the‑scenes program about theatrical costuming on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, noon to 1 p.m. CDT at Rawlins Municipal Library, 1000 E. Church St., Pierre.

You’ve seen their creative work in "Macbeth" and other Pierre Players productions. Join them as they discuss their design process and showcase costumes they’ve crafted for Pierre Players. Learn about how costumes are conceptualized and created, techniques and materials used in theater costuming, and stories behind memorable Pierre Players productions.

This free program is open to all theater lovers, makers and curious minds. Register to attend.

Pierre Players Offers Scholarships

Pierre Players offers scholarships for post-secondary education and theater workshops for all ages. Post-secondary scholarships are based on participation in fine arts programs, activities and events. Pierre Players participation is given preference. The deadline to apply for a post-secondary scholarship is March 19, 2026. Pierre Players also offers scholarships for theater-related camps and workshops in South Dakota for students to develop their theater skills. Camp/workshop scholarships are based on Pierre Players' involvement, as well as other fine arts programs.

Pierre Concert Series Presents South Dakota Symphony Orchestra

The Pierre Concert Series is excited to present the South Dakota Symphony Orchestra with Music Director Delta David Gier on Sunday, Feb. 8, 2026, at 3:30 p.m. at the Pierre T.F. Riggs High School Theater. A limited number of individual tickets are available to the public. (For Pierre Concert Series members, the South Dakota Symphony Orchestra concert is included in each membership. Adult ticket prices are $35, and youth tickets are free (age 21 and younger - limited to 4 per request.) Tickets can be purchased from the Pierre Players website, at the Pierre Players Box Office or directly from the Pierre Concert Series at 605-224-2301. Tickets purchased online or at the Pierre Players Box Office will be available the day of the concert at will call at the Riggs High School Theater.

Pierre Players has unveiled its 2026 season and is now selling season passes, which get you tickets to each production. 2026 productions are: Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde, Sylvia, 1776, and The Glitter Girls.

A Double Pass at $120 gets you two tickets for each show. A Single Pass at $65 is one ticket for each show. Student Passes at $50 gets a student one ticket for each show.

This glamorous open house celebration on Thursday, Oct. 23, 2025, 4:30-7 p.m. at the Grand Opera House will feature all the glitz and glamour of Hollywood’s biggest night, complete with exciting reveals of our upcoming season lineup and the talented directors who will bring these productions to life. Whether you’re a longtime theater lover or curious newcomer, come dressed to impress (or come as you are!) for an evening filled with surprises, sneak peeks and maybe even a few acceptance speeches. It’s your chance to get an exclusive first look at what promises to be our most spectacular season yet, while mingling with fellow theater enthusiasts and the creative minds behind the magic. The program and entertainment begin at 5:30 p.m. on the stage. Lights, camera, kickoff!

Seuss-on-Stage Summer Camp to be Held June 23-27

Step into a world of rhymes, whimsy, and wonder at Camp Seuss-on-Stage! This one-of-a-kind summer drama camp brings the imaginative universe of Dr. Seuss to life through acting, storytelling, and creative play. Campers going into grades 3–5 in the fall will explore favorite Seussian characters, from Horton the Elephant to the Sneeches, while learning the basics of theater—movement, voice, improvisation, and scene work.

Throughout the week, campers will collaborate to create their own wacky, whimsical performance inspired by Dr. Seuss’s stories and style. With colorful costumes, playful props, and lots of laughter, each day will be filled with fun, creativity, and self-expression. At the end of camp, families are invited to a special showcase where our young performers will share their Seuss-tacular show!

No prior theater experience needed—just bring your imagination and a love for silly stories! Summer camp dates are June 23-27, 2025, 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. CDT at the Grand Opera House. The fee is $15, and space is limited to 25 students. Please register by June 18, 2025.
