Whodunit Comes Alive – Buy Your Tickets Today for 'Clue: On Stage'

Tickets go on sale Monday, Feb. 12, for Pierre Players Community Theatre's production of “Clue: On Stage,” a comedy adapted from the Paramount Pictures film written by Jonathan Lynn and the board game from Hasbro, Inc., written by Sandy Rustin. Shows will run Feb. 23-25 and Feb. 29-March 2, 2024, at the Grand Opera House in Pierre.

It's a dark and stormy night, and you've been invited to a very unusual dinner party. Each of the guests has an alias, the butler offers a variety of weapons, and the host is, well...dead. So whodunit? Join the iconic oddballs known as Scarlet, Plum, White, Green, Peacock, and Mustard as they race to find the murderer in Boddy Manor before the body count stacks up. Based on the cult classic film and the popular board game, "Clue: On Stage" is a madcap comedy that will keep you guessing until the final twist.

Doors open at 7 p.m. CST, with performance at 7:30 p.m. CST. Sunday matinee doors open at 1:30 p.m. CST, with performance at 2 p.m. CST.

A preview performance will be held Feb. 21, at 7:30 p.m. CST. Preview tickets are $5 at the door.

Please note, PPCT is increasing the cost of individual ticket prices (something which hasn't happened in nearly 20 years). This change will allow us to further our mission of enriching, educating, and entertaining central South Dakota through providing quality theater. The increase reflects trends across the state, but will also allow us to enhance patrons' experiences, with benefits like the soon-to-come online ticketing system.

Tickets are $20 in advance for adults and $15 in advance for senior citizens (age 62 and older) and students (high school and under). Tickets at the door are $25 per person.

Capitol, Pierre. Throughout the evening, get sneak peeks of next season's productions, purchase season memberships, attend the annual meeting and enjoy light snacks. Meet the talented directors who will bring the shows to life. Also, enjoy a preview of the final play of the current season, "All is Calm," a musical set on the Western Front at Christmas, 1914.

Inconsequential Dreams Reception at Waterfront Gallery for the Arts

Join Pierre Players at Waterfront Gallery for the Arts on Saturday, Sept. 16, 2023, at 1 p.m., for a behind-the-scenes look at its latest production, “Inconsequential Dreams.”

Playwright Michelle Schaunaman from Aberdeen will discuss her process in writing the script, and the show’s director, Alisa Bousa, will talk about staging an original production on Pierre Players’ stage. The cast will give a glimpse into their characters and perform a scene from the show.

In addition to the discussion on “Inconsequential Dreams,” Waterfront Gallery for the Arts will host an artist reception and show by Alisha Erickson from noon to 5 p.m. on Sept. 16. Waterfront Gallery for the Arts is located at 207 E. Missouri Ave. Suite 1A in Pierre.

Alisha, who is originally from Pierre and now resides in Sioux Falls, is a nurse and self-taught abstract artist. Alisha uses both watercolors and acrylics to create colorful interpretations of nature and flowers. Art has always been her passion, and over the last few years she has perused making art a daily part of her life.

Show dates for Pierre Players’ “Inconsequential Dreams” are Sept. 15-16 and Sept. 21-23, 2023, at 7:30 p.m. and a 2 p.m. matinee on Sept. 17, 2023.

Storybook Land Theatre to Present 'The Perfect Dog' at Grand Opera House

Sam is dying to meet her perfect hero, Ideal Ida, who just so happens to be judging her town's dog show! However, Sam can't possibly enter her non-perfect dog, Max, into the contest and embarrass herself in front of Ida. So, she is on a quest to find the perfect dog to compete in the dog show, but will she realize that maybe Max isn't so bad? Find out in Storybook Land Theatre's performances of "The Perfect Dog" on Saturday, Aug. 5, 2023, at 1 p.m. at the Grand Opera House in Pierre. Ticket prices are $5 at the door. Little Players to Present ‘Disney’s Winnie the Pooh KIDS’

Join Winnie the Pooh and all his pals on Friday, June 23, 2023, at 7 p.m. CDT, and Saturday and Sunday, June 24 and 25, 2023, at 1 p.m. CDT, at the Grand Opera House for this year's Pierre Players Little Players production “Disney’s Winnie the Pooh KIDS.”

Welcome to the Hundred Acre Wood, where Winnie the Pooh is once again in search of honey. Along the way, he meets his pals, Tigger, Piglet, Rabbit and Owl, but soon discovers that Christopher Robin has been captured by the mysterious Backson! As they prepare for a rescue operation, the animals learn about teamwork, friendship and, of course...sharing snacks.

Matinees on Saturday and Sunday will be followed by the Hundred Acre Woods Festival with photo ops, games, and activities for the whole family.

Tickets for the performance are $5 at the door, with no reserved seating. Tickets for the Hundred Acre Woods Festival are $5 per person.

Little Players is a part of Pierre Players Community Theatre. Little Players' mission is to foster an appreciation of community theater and encourage self-development through the dramatic arts as students learn the skills and technical aspects of theater. An Experiment With an Air Pump

“An Experiment With an Air Pump” by Shelagh Stephenson is the next installment of Pierre Players Community Theatre's new Outside the Box series. Enjoy a readers' theater style performance at the Grey Goose Store & Social Club on Saturday, June 10, at 7:30 p.m. CDT.

1799—On the eve of a new century, a Northern English house buzzes with scientific experiments, furtive romance, and farcical amateur dramatics. 1999—In a world of scientific chaos and genetic engineering, the same house reveals a dark secret buried for 200 years.

The performance will be open to the public, with a free will offering requested to help cover costs. Come at 7:30 p.m. to enjoy a drink and mingle. The show will start at 8 p.m.

Outside the Box is a new series for PPCT to perform scripts not chosen for the main stage, gauge audience feedback on new scripts or those by local playwrights, give more people an opportunity to be involved in community theater, and broaden PPCT's reach into the community.

Outside the Box: Love, Loss, and What I Wore

Experience Pierre Players Community Theatre's new venture, Outside the Box!

Outside the Box is a new series for PPCT to perform scripts not chosen for the main stage, gauge audience feedback on new scripts or those by local playwrights, give more people an opportunity to be involved in our community theater, and broaden our reach into the community. Performances will be done readers theater style and open to the public to attend, with a free-will offering requested to help cover costs.

The first performance will be "Love, Loss, and What I Wore" by Delia & Nora Ephron on Friday, March 24, 2023, at St. Charles Lounge. Come at 7:30 p.m. to enjoy a drink and mingle. The show will start at 8 p.m.

"Love, Loss, and What I Wore" is a play of monologues and ensemble pieces about women, clothes, and memory covering all the important subjects—mothers, prom dresses, mothers, buying bras, mothers, hating purses, and why we only wear black.

Auditions for Jake's Women on March 6

Pierre Players Community Theatre will hold open auditions for "Jake's Women," a dramatic comedy by Neil Simon, on Monday, March 6, 2023, 7 p.m. at the Grand Opera House. There are parts for one male and seven females (one character is a 12-year-old girl).

Jake, a novelist who is more successful with fiction than with life, faces a marital crisis by daydreaming about the women in his life. The wildly comic and sometimes moving flashbacks played in his mind are interrupted by visitations from actual females. Jake's women include a revered first wife who was killed years earlier in an accident, his daughter who is recalled as a child but is now a young woman, his boisterous and bossy sister, an opinionated analyst, his current wife who is leaving Jake for another man, and a prospective third wife.

Pierre Players began painting the audience area of the Grand Opera House in August, and it's time to finish this production. We plan to finish painting on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2023, starting at 9 a.m.
