Every survivor deserves the opportunity to write another chapter and share their story.

Missouri Shores Domestic Violence Center and Pierre Players Community Theatre partner to present "Walking Home" by Shelby Bergeson on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2026, 7 p.m. CDT at the Grand Opera House.

Join us for a powerful readers theater presentation following three individuals as they navigate their experiences with domestic violence and find strength through the stories and support of others. Their real-life journeys offer a glimpse into the realities of abuse, the power of connection, and the courage it takes to move forward.

There is no cost to attend, but donations are welcome to benefit Missouri Shores Domestic Violence Center. This event is being held in conjunction with Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Local Young People to Perform Space Pirates!

Prepare for an out-of-this-world adventure! The talented youth from the Pierre area are ready to dazzle audiences with their performance in the musical sensation, "Space Pirates!" Thanks to the generous support of Pierre Players Community Theatre and Theatre 605 Tours, this cosmic journey is set to take flight!

Join Casey on an adventure from a mundane museum tour to the chaotic realm of alien spaceships and pirates. Captivated by ancient artifacts, Casey is transported to the Zooglebotz spaceship, where aliens gather Earth's items to learn about humanity. When space pirates attack, Casey devises a clever plan to save their alien allies and return home. The story promotes friendship, self-discovery, curiosity and teamwork, complemented by a lively soundtrack of pirate shanties and alien ballads, celebrating the uniqueness of everyone.

This special performance culminates a week of hard work for 46 young stars, offering them a taste of a professionally produced musical. Don't miss out on the intergalactic fun! Make plans to see "Space Pirates!" on Friday, Aug. 14, 2026, at 7 p.m. CDT or Saturday, Aug. 15, 2026, at 10 a.m. CDT at the Grand Opera House. The ticket cost is pay what you can, general admission. Pierre Concert Series Presents South Dakota Symphony Orchestra

The Pierre Concert Series is excited to present the South Dakota Symphony Orchestra with Music Director Delta David Gier on Sunday, Feb. 8, 2026, at 3:30 p.m. at the Pierre T.F. Riggs High School Theater. A limited number of individual tickets are available to the public. (For Pierre Concert Series members, the South Dakota Symphony Orchestra concert is included in each membership. Adult ticket prices are $35, and youth tickets are free (age 21 and younger - limited to 4 per request.) Tickets can be purchased from the Pierre Players website, at the Pierre Players Box Office or directly from the Pierre Concert Series at 605-224-2301. Tickets purchased online or at the Pierre Players Box Office will be available the day of the concert at will call at the Riggs High School Theater.

Local Artist to Lead Mask-Making Workshop

PPCT invites the public to a creative, hands-on Mask-Making Workshop led by local artist and volunteer Blake Messegee. This unique workshop will guide participants through crafting custom masks using accessible materials.

The workshop will be held Dec. 15, 17 and 18, 2024 at 6-8 p.m., with each session exploring a different aspect of the mask-making process. Whether you’re a seasoned artist or a first-timer, this workshop is open to individuals age 14 and older.
