Pierre Players/View 34 Dinner Theater: Four Weddings and an Elvis

Pierre Players/View 34 will present the dinner theater Four Weddings and an Elvis on May 8, 9 and 10, 2014, at View. 34. Sandy, the four-times married, three-times divorced owner of a wedding chapel in Las Vegas, has seen her fair share of matrimonies! In the hilarious Four Weddings and an Elvis, witness four of her funniest with the final wedding the funniest of all: Sandy’s fifth and final wedding which reveals a hilarious twist! Dinner theater doors open 6 p.m. at View 34, with the meal to be served at 6:30 p.m. The production will begin at 7 p.m., with a 15 minute intermission.Tickets cost $35 per person and will go on sale April 7. Pierre Players to Award Three, $500 Scholarships

Pierre Players Community Theatre is offering three, $500 post-secondary education scholarships. Applicants may apply their senior year of high school and reapply each year as they complete their post-secondary education. Awarding of the scholarships is based on participation in fine arts programs, activities and events. Pierre Players Community Theatre participation is given preference. The deadline to apply is March 31. View the application.

Want to learn more about getting involved in Pierre Players but don't know where to start? Stop by Pierre Players' booth at the Pierre Area Chamber of Commerce Activities Roundup on Thursday, Feb. 6. The come-and-go event will be held 5-8 p.m. at the Oahe Family YMCA and is free to the public. Representatives from Pierre Players will be on hand to answer questions about getting involved and provide information about upcoming productions. Oral Interpretation Showcase: December 15

Pierre Players is hosting the T.F. Riggs Oral Interpretation Team on Sunday, Dec. 15 at 7 p.m. in the Grand Opera House. The event is open to the public with no admission. Presenters are Justin Oakland, Lydia Kanz, Sarah Kanz, Louis Mehlhaff, Grant Erwin, Joni Willoughby, Austin Lentsch, Tori Byer, Sami Paul, and Emily Nielson. 

The team received four Superior awards for the following pieces:  Newsies - Readers Theater compiled by Justin Oakland and Lydia Kanz, Beauty and the Beast - Duet by Justin Oakland and Lydia Kanz, To This Day - Poetry read by Sarah Kanz, Fat Kids on Fire - Humorous reading by Lydia Kanz. They also received a Team Excellence Award for getting four Superiors at State.

The showcase is dedicated to their coach Shane Cronin who has been fighting cancer. Audience is welcome to stay after the event to talk with the team and ask questions about Oral Interpretation.

The public is invited to Pierre Players' 2013-2014 Membership Kickoff on Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2013, 4-7 p.m., at the Grand Opera House. In addition to purchasing your 2013-2014 season membership, attendees can tour the Grand Opera House, learn about is history and how a production is put together. Upper Pierre Street Celebration

Pierre Players, along with the Upper Pierre Street Neighborhood, invited the public to stop by Friday, June 14, to celebrate the start of the Upper Pierre Street makeover. Pierre Players painted faces and promoted its upcoming show "Kiss Me Kate" and its children's theater performance of "The Legend of Lightning Larry." Pierre Players Awards Three High School Scholarships

Winners of the 2013 Pierre Players Community Theater scholarships were Riggs High School seniors John Ricketts, Jackson Schumacher and Kat Schuetzle. Pierre Players provides three, $200 scholarships each year to local graduating seniors. We wish these graduates the best of luck. "All the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players."

"The Laramie Project: Ten Years Later:" March 9

On Saturday, March 9, the cast of "The Laramie Project" will present a readers’ theater performance of "The Laramie Project: Ten Years Later," an epilogue showing what happened next and how attitudes changed in Laramie and beyond in the decade following the Matthew Shepard murder. The performance will be held in Pierre Players' Encore Room (box office/concession area) next to the Grand Opera House at 7:30 p.m. The cost is $5, and no reservations will be accepted.
