Synopsis: Good intentions collide with absurd assumptions in Larissa FastHorse’s wickedly funny satire, "The Thanksgiving Play." The plot centers around a troupe of terminally woke teaching artists scrambling to create a pageant that somehow manages to celebrate both Turkey Day and Native American Heritage Month.
Larissa FastHorse (Sicangu Lakota Nation) is a 2020 MacArthur Fellow, award winning writer/choreographer, and co-founder of Indigenous Direction, the nation’s leading consulting company for Indigenous arts and audiences. In 2023, she became the first female Native American playwright to have a play produced on Broadway with "The Thanksgiving Play." Larissa resides in Santa Monica, Calif., but her homeland is South Dakota. She graduated from Riggs High School in Pierre in 1989.
Advisory: This play is recommended for mature audiences—middle school and above.
