Pierre Players Seeking Ideas for 2015-2016 Season
Pierre Players’ Season Select Committee has begun meeting to discuss plays for the 2015-2016 season. Have you seen a great show that we should consider? Do you have a desire to direct? If so, do you have a proposal that you would like to present to the committee? We are eager to receive suggestions and input so that we can select an exciting and successful 2015-2016 season for our patrons. Contact Committee Chair Alisa DeMers or any Season Select Committee member by Friday, Jan. 30, 2015, to offer suggestions or request a meeting with the committee to present your proposal. Committee members are Board Members Rodd Bauck, Dan Bohman, Alisa DeMers, Roxanne Giedd and Josh Penrod; Pierre Players Business Manager Deb Hiatt; and Pierre Players at-large members Hannah Carda, Michael Pangburn, Brad Steckelberg and Kimberly Zerr.

Dakota Western Heritage Festival Concert: September 13
Dakota Western Heritage Festival presents a concert featuring Yvonne Hollenbeck, Bonnie Krogman, Jean Prescott and Kevin Davis on Saturday, Sept. 13, 7 p.m., at the Grand Opera House. Annual Membership Meeting: September 11
Pierre Players will hold its annual membership meeting on Thursday, Sept. 11, 5:30 p.m. in the Encore Room of the Grand Opera House. All season membership holders are encouraged to attend. The meeting is brief and provides information on the current state of the organization, its finances and plans for the future. The agenda includes reports from Pierre Players’ president and committees, the yearly financial statement and the election of four new Board of Governor members. Those retiring from the board include Hannah Carda and Greg Peters. In addition, Rodger Hartley and Joanna Lawler are resigning from the Board.

Pierre Players Gives Away Season Memberships at Oahe Days Booth

Pierre Players' Children's Theater Workshop: June 16-20
Pierre Players is offering a theater workshop for students entering third through fifth grades June 16-20, 3-5 p.m., at the Grand Opera House. The workshop offers instruction in expression/movement, costume/set design, and makeup and will conclude with a full production at the Steamboat Park Amphitheater on June 21, 2014, 10:30 a.m. during Oahe Days. The children will present The Three Little Pigs and the Big Bad Wolf and The Three Little Wolves and the Big Bad Pig.The two altered retelling of a traditional tale relate the conflict between pig and wolf--one with a surprise ending and one with a twist of character. Registration for the Children's Theater Workshop is through Pierre Parks & Recreation's Summer Recreation Program, and space is limited. Pierre Players Rummage Sale: May 17
Pierre Players' costume and storage areas are overflowing, so it is time to clean out our closets. Pierre Players will hold a rummage sale on the Grand Opera House stage Saturday, May 17, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Most items will be 25 cents, or fill your laundry basket for $2. While browsing through items such as fur coats, wigs and women's clothing, grab a snack from our bake sale in the Encore Room.

Pierre Players/View 34 Dinner Theater: Four Weddings and an Elvis
Pierre Players/View 34 will present the dinner theater Four Weddings and an Elvis on May 8, 9 and 10, 2014, at View. 34. Sandy, the four-times married, three-times divorced owner of a wedding chapel in Las Vegas, has seen her fair share of matrimonies! In the hilarious Four Weddings and an Elvis, witness four of her funniest with the final wedding the funniest of all: Sandy’s fifth and final wedding which reveals a hilarious twist! Dinner theater doors open 6 p.m. at View 34, with the meal to be served at 6:30 p.m. The production will begin at 7 p.m., with a 15 minute intermission.Tickets cost $35 per person and will go on sale April 7. Pierre Players to Award Three, $500 Scholarships
Pierre Players Community Theatre is offering three, $500 post-secondary education scholarships. Applicants may apply their senior year of high school and reapply each year as they complete their post-secondary education. Awarding of the scholarships is based on participation in fine arts programs, activities and events. Pierre Players Community Theatre participation is given preference. Learn More About Pierre Players on February 6
Want to learn more about getting involved in Pierre Players but don't know where to start? Stop by Pierre Players' booth at the Pierre Area Chamber of Commerce Activities Roundup on Thursday, Feb. 6. The come-and-go event will be held 5-8 p.m. at the Oahe Family YMCA and is free to the public. Representatives from Pierre Players will be on hand to answer questions about getting involved and provide information about upcoming productions. Pierre Players is hosting the T.F. Riggs Oral Interpretation Team on Sunday, Dec. 15 at 7 p.m. in the Grand Opera House. The event is open to the public with no admission. Presenters are Justin Oakland, Lydia Kanz, Sarah Kanz, Louis Mehlhaff, Grant Erwin, Joni Willoughby, Austin Lentsch, Tori Byer, Sami Paul, and Emily Nielson.
The team received four Superior awards for the following pieces: Newsies - Readers Theater compiled by Justin Oakland and Lydia Kanz, Beauty and the Beast - Duet by Justin Oakland and Lydia Kanz, To This Day - Poetry read by Sarah Kanz, Fat Kids on Fire - Humorous reading by Lydia Kanz. They also received a Team Excellence Award for getting four Superiors at State.
The showcase is dedicated to their coach Shane Cronin who has been fighting cancer. Audience is welcome to stay after the event to talk with the team and ask questions about Oral Interpretation.
