Pierre Players Seeks Suggestions for 2016-2017 Season

Pierre Players’ Season Select Committee has begun meeting to discuss plays for the 2016-2017 season. Have you seen a great show that we should consider? Do you have a desire to direct again? If so, do you have a proposal that you would like to present to the committee? We are eager to receive suggestions and input so that we can select an exciting and successful 2016-2017 season for our patrons. Please contact Season Select Committee Chair Alisa DeMers via email or 280-3700 by Sunday, Jan. 31, 2016, to offer suggestions or request a meeting with the committee to present your proposal.

Annual Membership Meeting: September 21, 2015

Pierre Players will hold its annual membership meeting on Monday, Sept. 21, 5:30 p.m. in the Encore Room of the Grand Opera House. All season membership holders are encouraged to attend. The meeting is brief and provides information on the current state of the organization, its finances and plans for the future. The agenda includes reports from Pierre Players’ president and committees, the yearly financial statement and the election of two new Board of Governors members. Those retiring from the Board include Alisa DeMers and Roxanne Giedd. Three individuals submitted letters of interest in the openings. The slate of candidates the Board of Governors has voted to recommend at the annual membership meeting is Nick Carda and Greg Peters. Nominations will also be accepted from the floor during the meeting.

Membership Kickoff Set for August 13

Pierre Players will hold its 2015 Membership Kickoff on Thursday, Aug. 13, 2015, 4-7 p.m. Vote for your favorite female character, male character, set design, poster design and production from our 2014-2015 season. Tour the Grand Opera House and find answers to clues to learn about the upcoming season, the Grand Opera House and Pierre Players, and register for prizes. Enjoy a dinner of pulled pork sandwiches, chips and homemade baked good. And of course purchase your 2015-2016 season membership. Learn more.

Cinderella Twist Summer Workshop: June 15-20

Pierre Players is offering a theater workshop for students entering third through fifth grades June 15-19, 3-5 p.m., at the Grand Opera House. The workshop offers instruction in expression, movement, costume, and set design and will conclude with a readers’ theater production at the Steamboat Park Amphitheater on June 20, 2015, 10:00 a.m. during Oahe Days. The children will present Cinderella Bigfoot and Bubba, the Cowboy Prince along with a couple of poems. These creative interpretations of the classic story will have you rolling with laughter!

Pierre Players will have a table at the Activities Roundup on Tuesday, Feb. 3, 5-8 p.m., at the YMCA. Pierre Players is one of more than 35 groups attending to provide information on what programs the Pierre area has to offer. You can find out when and how to register, practice dates and meeting times, equipment/supplies required and more. Stop at the YMCA to visit all the great organizations/groups to get involved with in the Pierre area. Stop in at Pierre Players booth – we would love to visit with you.

Pierre Players Seeking Ideas for 2015-2016 Season

Pierre Players’ Season Select Committee has begun meeting to discuss plays for the 2015-2016 season. Have you seen a great show that we should consider? Do you have a desire to direct? Dakota Western Heritage Festival Concert: September 13

Dakota Western Heritage Festival presents a concert featuring Yvonne Hollenbeck, Bonnie Krogman, Jean Prescott and Kevin Davis on Saturday, Sept. 13, 7 p.m., at the Grand Opera House. Pierre Players' Children's Theater Workshop: June 16-20

Pierre Players is offering a theater workshop for students entering third through fifth grades June 16-20, 3-5 p.m., at the Grand Opera House. The workshop offers instruction in expression/movement, costume/set design, and makeup and will conclude with a full production at the Steamboat Park Amphitheater on June 21, 2014, 10:30 a.m. during Oahe Days. The children will present The Three Little Pigs and the Big Bad Wolf and The Three Little Wolves and the Big Bad Pig.The two altered retelling of a traditional tale relate the conflict between pig and wolf--one with a surprise ending and one with a twist of character. Registration for the Children's Theater Workshop is through Pierre Parks & Recreation's Summer Recreation Program, and space is limited.
